Association des Amis de la Bibliothèque Nationale de France et des grandes bibliothèques françaises was developed in partnership with Bibliothèque Nationale de France (BNF) to establish close links with major libraries in France and abroad, serve as a reading and research institution and make its services available to a wider audience, thus contributing to the reputation of BNF in France and abroad. In that respect, its mission is also to enrich the BNF collections through donations and acquisitions.

BNF print and photography departments have been expanded thanks to donors to Friends of Fondation de France.
