Mission & Vision

In the Saint-Jean-de-Luz region, local shelters identified an urgent problem: there was a pressing need for housing for pregnant women facing hardship. In response to this critical situation, La Maison des Sept Vallées was founded in November 2023. As a non-profit organization, its mission is to provide a safe and stable environment where expectant mothers can find respite and prepare for the future alongside a supportive community.

Located in the beautiful Basque region, this organization offers shared housing to vulnerable pregnant women over the age of 18 and young professional women between the ages of 25 and 35 who wish to contribute to a solidarity-based living environment. Through this unique community model, La Maison des Sept Vallées fosters mutual support and shared responsibility, creating a nurturing space where new mothers can focus on their well-being and the early development of their child.

Actions Led

La Maison des Sept Vallées operates from a private residence in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, nestled within a 20-hectare estate where organic tea is cultivated. This tranquil setting offers both privacy and proximity to essential services, including the Saint-Jean-de-Luz hospital and public transportation, located just a 15-minute walk away.

The residence features seven individual rooms available for co-living at an affordable rate of 200 euros per month. While priority is given to local residents, eligibility is extended to women who have valid identification or residency permits who can participate in community living.

The organization provides a one-year period of stability for mothers and their infants up to one year old, offering personal guidance in securing long-term housing and access to training programs. These include financial literacy courses, yoga sessions, and creative workshops designed to encourage emotional and practical preparedness for independent living.

Projects That U.S. Donors Can Support

Through Friends of Fondation de France, U.S.-based donors have the opportunity to support:

Accommodations: At La Maison des Sept Vallées, accommodations take the form of solidarity-based co-living, where volunteers and women in vulnerable situations share a communal living space and help each other navigate the challenges of early motherhood and personal reintegration.

Support and Activities: Activities include shelter operations, room amenities, cooking and dining together, support for finding jobs, and long term accommodations.

Your support can help provide a safe and nurturing home for expectant mothers in need, empowering them to build a secure future for themselves and their children.
