Mission & Vision
Mille et un mots (One Thousand and One Words) is dedicated to preventing early inequalities in the development of preschool children by leveraging the latest findings from scientific research. The organization’s mission is to ensure that every child, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to develop essential language and cognitive skills from an early age. By focusing on early childhood development, Mille et un mots aims to create a foundation for lifelong learning and success, particularly for children from underprivileged communities.
Actions Led
Mille et un mots implements a distance learning program tailored to support underprivileged children during their critical preschool years. The program includes the distribution of carefully selected children’s books, which are sent directly to families to encourage reading and language development at home. In addition, the organization develops and provides educational content that is delivered to parents through text messages and mobile apps. This content is designed to enhance parents’ ability to engage in meaningful interactions with their children, including reading, speaking, and playing. Furthermore, speech therapists work closely with parents through phone consultations, offering guidance and support to improve their communication and interaction skills with their children.
Projects that U.S. Donors Can Support
Through Friends of Fondation de France, U.S. donors have the opportunity to support Mille et un mots’ impactful distance learning program. Donations will help fund the purchase and distribution of children’s books, the development of educational materials for parents, and the vital work of speech therapists who assist families in enhancing their children’s language development. By contributing to this program, donors play a crucial role in reducing early inequalities and providing underprivileged children with the tools they need for a brighter future.
