Mission & Vision

Created in 2017, the OM Fondation – Treizième hOMme carries out the professional soccer club’s social and charitable initiatives. Embodying the Olympique de Marseille’s  commitment to its community, the foundation’s new impact strategy responds to local needs, using soccer as a tool.

Drawing on the club’s strengths, expertise, and roots in the city, OM Fondation – Treizième hOMme aims to become a facilitator of youth engagement in Marseille, and a key player in the city’s transformation over the long-term.

Actions Led

Treizième hOMme has various projects that help young people access the transformative power of sports. These include:

MARSEILLE CAPITALE DU FOOT turns barren, unused spaces into multi-sports fields. The aim is to transform neighborhoods with inadequate local sports facilities, making sports accessible to everyone.

RENTRÉE DES CHAMPIONS supports the educational needs of disadvantaged children in Marseille by distributing new school supplies, making it easier for all kids to kick off the new school year successfully.

LES OLYMPIENNES raise OM to the highest level on every field and inspire new generations of Olympians.

REVE DE MINOTS enables sick children to live their Olympian dream in the stadium during a special evening organized for them at an OM match. OM partners with health organizations to help sick children experience the thrill of sports.

OM LEGENDES connects the past, present, and future of OM, creating links between all generations of Olympians.

TOURNOI DE L’ENFANCE, in partnership with the Ligue de Football Professionnel (Professional Football League), gives children in protective services special access at soccer games.

DROIT A L’EMPLOI Coaches and supports people who lack employment opportunities through a training program that focuses on developing soft skills.

Projects that U.S. Donors can Support

American donors can support Treizième hOMme’s mission in four pillars of action:

  • A sportier city: the program “Capitale du Foot” renovates and manages city stadiums in poor neighborhoods, while OM Next Gen helps around 30 local clubs promote education and sports.
  • A more innovative city : the program “cOMmunautés” fuels social innovation, accompanying associations in helping young people access better personal and professional opportunities.
  • A more united city : Five years ago, the foundation created a football club in one of the poorest places in France, a Marseille neighborhood called “La Castellane”. To bring the city together, they also created outreach initiatives, like writing a school book for 8-to-9-year-old children.
  • A more sustainable city : with the project “Tres sélectif”, the stadium put in place responsible recycling, and takes action to protect the sea.
