UTMB Cares
Mission & Vision

UTMB Cares is a global endowment fund and initiative aimed at uniting trail running communities to create positive social and environmental change. With events in 21 countries and over 50 international races as part of the UTMB World Series, UTMB Cares focuses on supporting local causes in the regions where these events take place. Built on values of solidarity, inclusion, and authenticity, UTMB Cares leverages the global platform of the UTMB World Series to drive meaningful local impact, concentrating on three core pillars: the environment, communities, and people.

Since 2004, the UTMB Group has actively supported charitable and environmental projects, raising over 3 million euros for important causes. Launched in 2023, UTMB Cares invites runners worldwide to “Race for More” by supporting projects that positively impact the communities hosting UTMB World Series events.

Actions Led

UTMB Cares supports numerous organizations and initiatives around its three key pillars: environment, communities, and people.

The Environment: UTMB Cares funds projects aimed at preserving and restoring natural landscapes, promoting resilient ecosystems through reforestation, biodiversity conservation, and trail maintenance. In 2023, UTMB Cares supported the Mosquito Fire Relief project during the HOKA Canyons Endurance Run by UTMB to help reforest the land affected by one of California’s largest wildfires in 2022.

Communities: UTMB Cares supports local development and community projects in the regions hosting UTMB events. By backing local organizations, it contributes to the well-being of these communities long after race day. For example, UTMB Cares has partnered with over 40 associations in 2024, including “En passant par la Montagne,” which helps introduce children to the beauty of the Mont Blanc region.

People: Ensuring inclusivity in trail running is a priority for UTMB Cares. Through the UTMB Academy, the initiative supports athletes from diverse backgrounds, including women, disabled athletes, and underrepresented groups, providing the resources they need to participate in their first trail race. In 2023, the Paraty Brazil by UTMB event launched the “Um Caiçara em Chamonix” program, enabling six local athletes to represent their community on the global stage.

Projects that US Donors Can Support

Through UTMB, US-based donors have the opportunity to support several impactful projects in these key focus areas:

Diversity: UTMB’s initiatives contribute to a more equitable and inclusive society, notably by combating discrimination, promoting gender equality, and undertaking actions targeted at vulnerable groups.

Environment: the fund works to raise awareness among athletes and the public about environmental protection and promoting the practice of sports in a sustainable development approach.

Social Solidarity: projects also focus on promoting solidarity and mutual support between people, especially those from different generations and/or socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.

Inclusion: key initiatives support the participation of the largest possible number of children, youth, and adults with disabilities in sports activities.
